This Saturday, the newly formed Scott High School speech and debate team will be traveling to Parkersburg High School to compete in the WVSDA Novice Speech and Debate Tournament.

Members of the team say they are ecstatic, with a team member by the name of Chris Reed stating,

“I can’t hardly wait for it, I’m so excited to debate people,” said Chris Reed, a sophomore team member.

Non-members are also excited about the idea of something new at Scott High School.

“It’s exciting to see a new sport at Scott, I’m happy this is an opportunity for students,” said Christina Sontag, Scott High School student.

Membership is open to any interested student. They currently meet on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday during first lunch for SSS time.

The team has several more tournaments coming up this year. The next will be the Parkersburg High School Isenhart Tournament on November 22.
