Regionals Cheerleading Competition
by Elliana Price
The cheerleaders are getting ready for an annual cheer competition in November.
“It’s a great experience, and I think that everyone is nervous but wants to win so bad and
that’s why it’s so fun.” Sophomore cheerleader Kailynn Edwards said. “It’s just a good
time for everyone to bond, not only over the sport but just in general.”
Edwards says it takes a lot to get to regionals, and it is a lot of hard work. Last year at Regionals, the cheerleaders got AA Region Champs.
“It takes a lot of hard work to make it out of regionals, especially with the teams we go
against; they put in the hard work and effort too.” Edwards said.
The cheerleaders face around 7 teams at Regionals. This year the Regional Cheer
Competition is at Parkersburg High School.
“I’m excited, but I’ve never been, so I am a little bit nervous, but everyone says it’s fun so
I’m excited.” Sophomore Cheerleader, Layla Silva, said.
Silva said the coaches and instructors have taught them well. She said they are doing really good.
“I hope we make it out of Regionals and go to States because I’ve never done it before, but I
think it will all be worth it,” Silva said.
A lot of people are waiting for the Cheerleading Competition this year because of what
happened last year. The cheerleaders have said they are coming back for more.
“We practice every day, but on Sunday we all work really hard. I think we have a great
motivating team this year,” Junior cheerleader Molly Ball said.
Ball mentioned how good they are doing this year and that they have a really good
chance of winning. All the cheerleaders are super excited.
“I think Regionals is going to be really good. I think our routine is super hard, but it
will be a fun routine to watch,” Ball said.
