The spring sports season is approaching very quickly here at Scott High School. Our spring season features sports such as baseball, softball, tennis, and track.

On Monday, March 13^th the baseball and softball teams teamed up to participate in a “Meet the Skyhawks” evening. This was an event that took place so that the coaches could share information about their teams this year and give the community an opportunity to meet the players.

This event also took place during the fall sports season to host and showcase the football team and that is where the baseball and softball coaches got their inspiration from. They had some of the same fun activities to do such as mechanical bull riding and refreshments.

Once the event began, we were introduced to the coaches this year for the baseball team like Kris Barrett, Aaron Cook, Easton Cook, Justin Chafin, Scott Light, and Shawn Miller. Then we were introduced to the softball teams coaching staff Eric Harper, Chad Barker, Jason Brumfield, and Allen Halley.

After the introductions the coaches each went into their excitement and anticipation for this season. Then we got to meet the players.

The baseball team this year has 22 players with around five starting seniors. The event got to meet players like D1 Marshall commit Griffin Miller, Reece Carden, Hunter Null, Jayden Sharps, and more.

The baseball team has recently gained two new players from around the area. These two new players being Hayden Johnson from Lincoln County and Caleb Vance from Man High School.

The team also gained several players who have played before in the past but never played for the high school team like Jayden Sharps and Reece Carden. New to the team, Jayden Sharps, stated “I’m very excited to work with this group of guys this year and happy I get to finish out my high school career playing baseball.”

The softball team has nineteen players with four starting seniors. At the event people got the opportunity to meet players like Concord commit Dailan Adkins, Tatum Halley, Jakayla Gaiter, Kayleigh Ellis, Cambri Barker, and more.

The softball team has made great strides in past years like being the sectional champions last year and getting to go to the regional tournament. Our Shawnee State softball commit, Tatum Halley stated “I expect greatness from the team this year, I think we’re all ready to take on the other teams to get back to where we were last year.”

The baseball team is also prepared this year to take on many teams as they want to attempt to get to where they were four years ago and compete for a spot in the state tournament. Both baseball and softball rosters have been posted and seasons will start soon.

The 2023 baseball season will begin on Wednesday, March 15^th at and against Herbert Hoover High School. Tensions are high for that game as Thursday March 16^th our basketball team will be taking on the Herbert Hoover Huskies in the first round of the state tournament.

The 2023 softball season will begin on Friday March 24^th at home against Sissonville High School. The Skyhawks and Indians will battle out for the first game of the season and everyone is so excited to get into it.
