Since the Skyhawks were given the homefield advantage, the Wildcats were given the advantage of batting first. The Skyhawks started strong, gaining three outs right away. The win means that the Scott Skyhawks remain ranked 4th in the state and are undefeated. “We really worked hard over the summer,” Amelia Smith, a sophomore on the team, said. “We really just want to push ourselves and the play the best we can”. The Lady Skyhawks had made it to the regional tournament last year after beating the Chapmanville Regional Tigers in the sectional championship. They failed to make it past the regional round, but this year they plan to do so. “We’re going to make it to states,” Smith said. And the way that their season is starting, that could be a good possibility.
The Lady SkyHawks will face the Sissonville Indians next. The two teams will meet on Friday, March 24th at 7:00pm. The game will be held at Lady SkyHawks homefield at Lick Creek. Go, Skyhawks!
