What is the willow project? The willow project is an oil and gas drilling project they are conducting in Alaska. It was developed by conocophillips .They have been considering doing this for many years. On March 13,2023 it was officially finalized by the approval of  Joe Biden’s administration . The cost of this project is roughly around 7 billion dollars.

What is the purpose of the willow project? The purpose of the willow project is to help provide jobs and money to the Alaskan natives. There will also be income for both the state and the federal government and that will increase revenue from oil,gas royalties and taxes.

Even though there are a few benefits to the willow project there are also a huge handful of downfalls while preceding this project. Such as pollution, this is one of the many things we worry about the most. Which would cause a lot of harm to the environment. Evidence says that over 260 million tonnes of greenhouse gas will be produced in the next 30 years.

With that being done the animals habitats will be ruined and even their health and with climate change they’re ecosystem is already endangered. With the upcoming decades polar bears will become extinct including many other animals.
