Coyotes In Boxes “And Curtis and Fox” Album Review
Coyotes in Boxes is an underground Indie grunge band, that was created in the March 2011. This review is like no other it’s a very special one, and I personally think they deserve more than only 23 monthly listeners. The Band members consists of The Guitarist Sean Knisely, Vocalist Steven Holland, Sean Dunn on the Bass, Kyle Baughman on the Drums. Their first album is named “And Curtis and Fox” created in Huntington, WV. Yes I know, a grunge band in West Virginia. Where Country roads want to take us home but those dirt roads want to take us somewhere else, oh those sweet new ridge mountains.
Anyways, the Tracklist consists of “Angel”, “Funeral Sounds”, “Words”, “Rocking Horse Winner”, “King Cole”, “Brother Sun, Sister Moon”, “Race”, “There’s a Darkness”, “Little Beasties”, and “Thanatopolis”. Most of these songs give off sort of a autumn, like freshly walking into a pile of leaves as you scour your backyard. Or being very sad while you sit on a log right next to a river watching mallards and ducks swim up and down the stream wishing you could be as free as they are. One of my personal favorites of the album is Funeral Sounds, Rocking Horse Winner. Rocking Horse Winner gives me a bit of an Elliott Smith feeling, Funeral Sounds is what defines what the title stands for. It’s really ominous and I really like the part where they build up the momentum for the song.
My overall rating for this is definitely a 10/10. This band is definitely like once you listen to it, The rhythm is imprinted on your brain. A literal Spotify barcode is scanned on your brain and that’s what it brings up. This review was really short due to there being little to no information on this band whatsoever. They didn’t plan to blow up, from what I can tell they probably still do little shows here and then in Nashville, Tennessee. So yeah that’s all the information I could cough up about this fantastic band. Lake and Ocean is also a very beautiful band situated in West Virginia. (Go listen to them whoever is reading this and thank me later) B)
