Ohio baby dies after abandonment for 10 days
An Ohio woman had left her 16-month-old baby alone for ten days where it starved to death, all alone and in pain.
Kristel Candelario was an Ohio mother who abandoned her 16-month-old baby daughter as she went on a 10-day vacation with a friend to Puerto Rico as she was alone and dying. When she came home on June 16, she put on new clothes, called 911, and said her baby was dying. After a month of investigating, detectives found camera footage of Kristel leaving her house on June 6 with a suitcase and returning on June 16. On Monday March 18th this year the case concluded with the judge sentencing Kristel to life in prison, her parents pleaded that her actions were from health problems but that didn’t work. Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court Judge Brendan Sheehan did not appreciate her actions and told her off. “The bond between a mother and a child is one of the most purest and most sacred bonds. It’s a relationship built on love, trust, and unwavering protection. … You committed the ultimate act of betrayal,” Sheehan said. (“An Ohio toddler died after her mom left her alone as she took a 10-day …”) The judge sentenced her to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
