News Recap
To start off, let’s talk about our Skyhawks. The basketball team’s season is ending with senior night being on March 1st. The tennis season is coming up soon and the football season is only months away. In other sports news, the Los Angeles Lakers traded Anthony Davis for Luka Doncic, and the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl in a blowout victory 40-22. After the Super Bowl, the fans of Philadelphia stormed the streets, starting fires, climbing poles, and breaking things. Unfortunately, a fan died while climbing a pole. The Philadelphia government tried to prevent people from doing this by greasing the street poles, but it was not enough.
In other news, the weather is very bipolar, with temperatures all over the place: a high of 38 and a low of 22 today and a high of 50 and a low of 48 tomorrow. Later this week and going into next week, we will be expecting snow locally. Nationally, the average temperature will be around 55 degrees Fahrenheit. The time is ticking as we are getting close to that nice warm summer weather.
Speaking of ticking, TikTok was banned January 18th, 2025, following the national security concerns and fears that China could use the video-sharing app to spy on American users. This ban did not last long, with President Trump’s inauguration being the next day, but if you deleted TikTok or did not already have it, you could not re-download it or download it at all. Fast forward to mid-February 2025 and TikTok is now available on the app store for download again.
In the latest news, President Trump has been accused of siding with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Ukraine-Russian War over U.S allies.
