On January 20th, 2026, around 10:52 in the morning, Scott High School had an accident in the girls’ bathroom that involved pipes bursting and water spewing everywhere.

This caused freezing water to flow freely in the bathroom, then go hot, fire alarms to go off, girls to get trapped in stalls, and girls to have their clothing ruined. In result, the water was shut off for about 30 minutes.

We spoke to some of the girls in the bathroom. Here is what they had to say: One freshman said we should have been sent home due to not having a bathroom for a long while, and the flood. A staff member said that the pipes are old and definitely need to be updated, but planned to get them fixed.

One girl who was in the bathroom said she went in the bathroom to clean a stain from her shirt. They noticed a foul-fish-like smell in the bathroom. Everyone smelled it. The student described it as “shooting everywhere.” There were many different opinions on the bathroom incident, but what we do know is that Scott’s pipes are old and plans to get them replaced.
