Is Ms. Adkins A Good Teacher?
Ms. Adkins is known to be one of the best teachers in our school, and she previously won Scott High School’s Teacher of the Year award. However, do her students feel she was deserving of that title?
I asked one of Ms. Adkins’s current students, Michael Clay, “What do you think about Ms. Adkins and the way she teaches?”
He said, “I think she’s an amazing teacher. She always finds a way to have a personal connection with her students.”
I asked Clay, “Do you think you have taken away valuable lessons from her class?”
Clay responded, “I think I have taken away more lessons from her class than any other teacher. She always has a way of informing me.”
When asked if Clay felt that Ms. Adkins deserved the Teacher of the Year award, his answer was an enthusiastic “Yes!”
Next, I interviewed Carson Asbury, another one of Ms. Adkins’s former English students.
I asked, “What do you think about Ms. Adkins?”
Asbury said, “I think she is the greatest teacher to ever exist!”
When I asked why he felt this way, Asbury added, “She just has a special way of connecting with her students and making all of them feel included.”

After talking to two former students, I asked a current student, junior Garrett VanGundy, similar questions.
I asked VanGundy, “What do you think about Ms. Adkins and her teaching?”
VanGundy answered, “So far I have liked it. The workload is not too hard, and it doesn’t feel like busy work.”
Furthering the discussion, VanGundy elaborated on Ms. Adkins’s assignments: “My other teachers give unnecessary work… It feels like way too much work, and I feel like it doesn’t give me a proper learning experience.”
To conclude the interview with VanGundy, I asked “What makes her different?”
VanGundy responded, “She actually puts effort into her work and is passionate about her students. Some of my teachers just try to get whatever it will take to meet the requirements and go on about their day. This isn’t the case with Ms. Adkins.”
With these interviews, and from personal experience, I believe that Ms. Adkins is a great teacher and influencer.
