2023 was the biggest year at the US border, with 2.5 million people Surprisingly, the most shocking number this year was of Chinese immigrants making up 28,000 people. This is surprising because last year, the number was a low 2,005.

In October 2023, border patrol finished a yearlong test about the Chinese where their amount has signifguntly increased this year. More than 14-time increase had somehow happened with Chinese immigrants. These immigrants had escaped from China into Mexico either by plane or boat or bus to go to America thought the wall. Traveling by plane is expensive but safer than traveling through the Darién Gap rainforest by boat/bus and much more by foot

When interviewed about leaving their home country and moving thought the Mexican border to go to America, they all had the same response of a deal of money. Some want a new life with better politics and financial opportunities. Chinese are willing to work hard to have a new life in America and believe they will greatly improve the economy. “I believe (Iris and I) are valuable to America. Because we are constantly working hard, paying taxes, I think our coming does not burden the US government,” he said. Others come because of money and come to work to send money back to their poor families.

Wheater not more Chinese migrants will be good or bad, it will be apparent that the number will rise more in 2024 as more people travel to start new lives as China is easing up passport restrictions for easier plane travel.
