So, we have all probably heard the news that an asteroid could possibly make contact with Earth. It is a slim chance, but scientists say it is big enough to destroy a whole city. This asteroid is named 2024 YR4 and classified as a NEO, which means near Earth object. It was discovered by scans and ground telescopes. This asteroid is only important because of the slim chance that it encounters Earth. NASA posts updates about this asteroid weekly, recently the chances of it hitting have become lower. 

There are still many questions to be answered about this asteroid. I wonder where it would hit if it does come into contact. This question can also be linked to the question of what city would be destroyed. This asteroid is really nothing to worry about. As of now it has less than a one percent chance of actually coming into contact with Earth. 

Jacie Lowry states “I am not really worried since the chances are that low.” I agreed with her statement because this is scary, but the chances make it less of a situation to worry about. Danica Lacy states, “When I first learned about it, I was scared until I looked more into it, then I saw the chances and kind of forgot about it.” So, in conclusion most people are scared but when they look more into it they are satisfied with the chances.
