Armageddon Album Review
After making a very successful debut back in 2020 with many hit songs, Aespa finally released their first full length studio album, Armageddon, in May 2024. In this album there are 10 different tracks, including their pre-release hit Supernova which had already become very popular, winning Song of the Year at Melon Music awards and MAMA awards. Besides Supernova, this album has many great songs that each have a different vibe to them.
“Set The Tone” has a hip-hop influence which isn’t the usual vibe for this group, but in my opinion, they delivered it well. My personal favorite song on this album is “Bahama”, which has catchy hooks and soothing melodies that add to the vocals of the members. While this song is overall pretty chill, the rapping in the bridge pushed this song into upbeat territory.
Armageddon has received a lot of commercial success, smashing records in only the first 5 days with over 1.1 million sales, another milestone to add to the list of achievements that were made with this album. The physical album also gained attention from fans for having a unique feature including a CD player. This concept boosted its popularity while sparking discussions amongst fans. Each song on this album brings something unique. Ranging from more upbeat songs to melodic and calm songs. Overall production feels very balanced. This album shows that they aren’t just sticking to one concept but being more experimental, which makes it stand out and have a fresh feeling.
