English Department to Host Inaugural Literacy Fair

The upcoming Literacy Fair at Scott High School is only eight days away. Judging is going to be tough. Many students have been discussing the topics they have chosen for their projects.

The Literacy Fair is a fully independent project in which students choose a book to read and then create a trifold poster to showcase the book. For the past several weeks, the teachers have assigned various worksheets to ensure the students are understanding their chosen book.

Tracy Brown, 10th grade English teacher, claims that she is a bit nervous about the Literacy Fair.

“The only part that I worry about is students showing up without a project or didn’t even do it,” Brown said.

Ethan Sanders, a sophomore at Scott High School, is excited. He claims he has worked extremely hard on this project and invested a lot of time in it. He is doing his Literacy Project on Django Unchained, a spin-off of the video game Red Dead Redemption II.

“Red Dead II is one of my favorite video games,” Sanders said. He says he plays it almost every day.

“I am very excited for our Literacy Fair, and I nervous at the same time,” Brown said.

Brown says she wants to bring Scott High School’s library to life. During the Literacy Fair, there will be very few people who actually get judged. Judging will occur for the projects that stand out and attract the most attention. The upcoming Literacy Fair will be on April 16th at Scott High School, and the teachers are excited to see the outstanding work that their students have completed.
