Back to School at Scott!

The 2025-2026 Scott High School has begun, starting, Thursday, August 14th. This year has a lot to unpack, with a new schedule, State Board of Education taking over, and phone pockets?

Students started back last week, in their new back to school; clothes and fresh haircuts, ready to start this school year off. Only to find a brand-new set of rules have been acted!

Last year at Scott High School, is seemingly going to feel like a breeze compared to this year. Many students have complained about an inaccurate schedule, wondering as to why it is taking so long to get it all fixed.

One Junior at Scott High School stated that they are worried, because that do not have the classes, they need for this school year.

“I’m mostly worried about scheduling because right now it seems like they are making me retake Algebra one, and I need to do Algebra three,” says the junior.

Not only is scheduling a bit worrisome, but the State Board of Education took over Boone County Schools, meaning a new master schedule and a few new rules. Students’ biggest new rule is clear backpacks, which as expected has annoyed a few students.

A sophomore at Scott Highschool thinks that clear backpacks are an invasion of privacy.

“As a girl all my feminine products are just going to be out, and visible, I just feel like I don’t have any right to privacy,” says the sophomore.

Another new rule that frankly upset the students of Scott Highschool was the new cell phone policy. An excerpt from the, Scott High School Acceptable Use Policy, states that, “I understand cell phone use is permitted only during homeroom, breaks between classes, and during lunch.”

Now this upsets students because, during classes most teachers ask them to put their phones in phone pouches, unlike last year, where students could keep phones in their backpacks.

This 2025-2026 School year is seen by students as a bit strict and slow starting off, but teachers and faculty assure students, it will not be as torturous as students believe. Nonetheless, everyone at Scott Highschool is excited for the new school year.
