Melissa Spratt is a first-year Special education teacher at Scott High School.

“I’ve only worked here for 3 weeks, it’s my first year,” Spratt said.

Spratt has earned a degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Special Education.

“I went to three started at Southern, West Virginia State University, and I studied at Marshell,” Spratt said.

Spratt says she has always wanted to assist people.

“I have always liked to help people. What better way than a teacher?” Spratt said.

Spratt said she loves English Language Arts.

“My favorite subject in school would have to be ELA,” Spratt said.

Despite its challenges, Spratt said she enjoys her job.

“Yes, I do like working at Scott,” Spratt said.

Spratt said that one of her pet peeves for students is whenever they are tardy.

“If you can’t be on time, be early,” Spratt said.

Spratt said she loves school lunch and she agrees with the majority of students on her favorite menu item.

“It would have to be pepperoni rolls,” Spratt said.

Spratt said she has two best friends at work.

“Mrs. Gillispie and Mrs. Brown. Can I have two beat friends?” Spratt said.

Spratt is the aunt of the starting football player Carson Brinegar.
